Purpose of the Community Engagement

The goals, objectives and expected outcomes of the community engagement process:

Goal

To lay a strong foundation for the development of the Malton satellite that responds to local population health needs with strong and relevant program and services and a well-equipped, high quality community board that is rooted in all the neighbourhoods served by Bramalea Community Health Centre.

Objectives

  • To invite and provide opportunities for the participation of all key individuals, groups and organizations throughout the community engagement process in order to elicit maximum community involvement in decision-making regarding primary healthcare needs and priority populations;
  • To identify and elicit the participation of Malton residents who are experiencing barriers to accessing comprehensive primary health care;
  • To identify, review and research all relevant local population health data (primary and secondary data) that currently exist throughout the community engagement process; to assist in the affirming and defining of population health needs and priority populations;
  • To determine desired key features of the satellite, including boundaries, target populations and a proposed governance framework.

Expected Outcomes

  • That all potential stakeholders desiring to partake in the engagement process will indicate that their input has been invited and that they have participated in a meaningful, inclusive, collaborative and transparent community engagement process. This process intends to seek out and give a voice to disenfranchised or marginalised groups that may have difficulty speaking on their own behalf;
  • That determinations around population health needs and proposed priority populations to be served by the satellite are clearly supported by the data elicited in the review and research of existing and new data and by the community engagement process;
  • That clear catchment area boundaries within which satellite services will be offered and general location(s) where the Malton Satellite should be located will be proposed and supported by the results of the community engagement process;
  • That proposed program and services will be clearly identified and supported by the data elicited through research and community engagement.
